    [Suggestion] Ultra RPG Invasion - the most addictive gamemode ever

    We all know how addictive games can be (not to talk about WOW). Having played UT 2004 RPG Invasion for years on a very well balanced and modified Server i do remember it as one of the best, funniest and rewarding multiplayer gameplay experiences.

    There is just nothing comparable to jumping through loads of monsters evading their shots while pumping out bullets from you flag cannon that has twentyfold weapon speed.. you get on some form of real adrenalin drip

    There has been a great creativity amongst modders to create something that can be very addicitve when played with some friends and new friendships formed by having open Teamspeak servers.

    To me it seems possible to even enhance on the initial Idea of RPG Invasion (which also hit onto its limitations at some point) to create the perfect gameplay experince that is not only addictive, fun and rewarding but also even more diversified and enhancing every aspect of the inital 2004 Mod.

    So in its end development stage it would be almost an own game in itself given the heavy game modifications including:

    - Different Classes (like Medic, Monster Master, Adrenalin Master, Engineer, Weapon Master etc.)
    - Levelup system. The more you kill, the higher your level. Every time you level up you can spent your earned points on different skills.
    - Special Weapons. Things like "The Rocket Launcher of Protection" or "The Minigun of Infinity".
    - Special Powerups like Vampirism, Increased Reload Speed, etc.
    - A huge set of different monsters which will be put randomly based on their strenght onto each wave (including bosses). One wave you could be playing against 2000 Mantas while in the next one you meet 600 Skaarj or a mixed set of monsters. The respawn time and population should allow the players to be in nonstop action sometimes facing a huge mass in a very short time (in special waves).
    - A reworked (optional) wave system that creates lots of surprises making the game somewhat unpredictable.
    - A loadout of special Maps created for Invasion ...at some points we need huge areas and camping spots too because these greatly enhance the teamplay experience as well as small tunnel like action packed ones.


    These are just to give a roughly detailed outline of the basics.

    Other really cool to haves would be:

    - Casino like slot machines for dead players earning various funny things like shooting redeemers / airstrikes while dead, earning time limited superpowers or even selfrevival.
    - Random wave events that create a special missions (like all monsters attack only one Player and everyone else hast to defend him), which on sucess gives a reward to all players (like XP Boost or Superpowers) and on loss will lead to some sort of funny punishment (like tossing players at random time around the map the next wave).
    - Random crazy stuff happening (still have to get my head around this one )


    I guess it would take some time as well as a talented team to develop this mod and personally i would like to see it as a full priced title on Steam.
    As much as i would like to create this game, the furthest i came in game development was to create some RPG Invasion Maps for UT 2004.
    After all this would be the game i have dreamed off for years.
    But as i´m not a game developer my only hope is that someone picks up on the idea.

    To even begin to Considered doing this I have to ask, do you know how to Model up the Monsters in UE4? All we need is some models but unfortunately we don't have them so no we can't do it and plus we need AI too.

      UT 2004 Invasion-RPG was an awesome game mod, and I had a ton of fun playing a less-competitive, PvE game in UT. We definitely need a UT4 version, but it's gonna be a huge project.

        I wouldn't mind this, I have several Unreal-Universe monsters in the works for artistic purposes, but I've never taken them further than 'fun' projects simply because I have no use for them. Get the basic code down, and I'll get you a couple of monster art assets.

          This looks really awesome If you do a version with a saddle I'll see what I can do about coding it as a vehicle

            @Hunterman: I have never created a monster but i guess we need Models, Textures, Animations, AI and Sounds.

              It is still way too early to talk about RPG, but I am currently planning / working on Invasion and other Cooperative gamemodes.

                Invasion has always been my FAVOURITE game mode since UT99. I would love to see it in the game, Wail. I know you're busy with tons of other stuff, but if you go hard on getting invasion up and going, I'll go hard on getting monsters.

                  Is this a public project? Something we could follow or contribute to? I see it on your task list, but I could see further advantages to creating a home for the Invasion community to chip in and work on different aspects at the same time.

                    I'll make a thread and whatnot when I have something to show off (or someone else gets to that stage). I am actually anticipating to start focusing on it this weekend though, so maybe I'll have some framework together soon. When it comes to polishing I am definitely in favor of collaboration -- Things like monster models & animations, sound effects, particle effects, will always be needed.
