    CONCEPT Flamethrower

    Flamethrowers are awesome, Unreal is awesome, it's bound to happen for UT4.

    In Unreal 2 we got a flamethrower:

    This is the most lethal short-range weapon in the Terran arsenal — you can incinerate entire squads of enemies at close quarters.



    The UA69 "Vulcan" Flamethrower is a unique weapon that appears inUnreal 2. It is preferred by Urban Assault Units of the Terran Heavy Infantry as well as Izanagi Heavy Ghost Warriors and Heavy Liandri Angels. It uses canisters of napalm for ammo and is capable of setting enemies on fire. TheAraknids are known to be extra vunerable to this weapon. The Vulcan Flamethrower is first found by John Dalton on Hell during the Unreal 2 single player campaigns.

    Primary fire: A jet of flaming gas. It deals a lot of damage, but uses ammo very quickly.

    Secondary fire: A spray of unignited napalm which will stick to almost any surface, and which can be ignited by several of other Unreal 2 weapons. It is very unstable and even if not ignited, it will burst into flames after a short while by itself.However, this one has some flaws that need to be adressed.

    First of all, the range of the Primary fire is too short and uses a lot of ammo, I think it should be around the same distance of the link gun, maybe a little longer, the ammo should last longer because it would make the weapon more viable in combat. Since flamethrower's primary fire can't make direct hits, it would work with damage over time, the longer you keep the fire on the player, the more damage you will deal, if they run away of the flames they'll still get burn damage.

    The secondary fire I think is not the best for UT4, so I though about a Fire Ball, it would work just like the shock rifle's alt fire, but faster.

    Some extra stuff could be:

    The flames not only ignite the players but also the surfaces for a few seconds.

    The Fireball explodes on contact

    You can see through the flames so you always know where you're aiming

    The fireball can be used like a rocket jump

    The fireball goes through players untill it hits a wall

    If close to the ground or a wall, the fireball leaves a trail of fire

    You can use it to iluminate dark areas

    You can use it to stop certain projectiles.

    Holding PF and then tapping or holding SF would increase the range of the flame but it will consume ammo twice as fast.

    Sounds good, but this propably can end up only as a mutator. Or in UT4 version of XMP game mode :P
