My Epic account was compromised and I cannot access it

If you think someone else has access to your Epic Games account and you can't sign in, follow the steps below to recover it and secure it again.

1. Secure your email account first. Your email is the key to your Epic Games account.
   • If you still have access to your email, sign in to your email provider.
     Change its password and turn on two-factor authentication (2FA).
   • If you've lost access to your email, contact your email service provider to recover it.
     Once you're back in, secure it with a unique password and 2FA.
     
2. Reset your password and recover access.
   Follow the steps in How can I recover access to my Epic Games account?
   It covers resetting your password, verifying with 2FA, what to do if you don't receive the security code, and what to do if you've lost access to your email.
   
   Note: This works only if you still have access to the email address on your account. If the person who accessed your account changed both, go to step 4 and submit a recovery request.
   
3. Try your linked accounts.
   If you have a console or social account linked to your Epic Games account (PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, Facebook, Google, and more), try signing in with that linked account.
   • If you get in and the email on your account is still yours, change your Epic Games password from your account settings: How to reset your Epic Games password
   • If you can sign in but the email was changed to one you don't control, signing in is not enough to keep your account. Go to step 4 and submit an account recovery request.
     
4. If you still can't get in, or you got in but can't change the email back to one you control, submit an account recovery request. Our team will verify your identity and help you regain access: How do I submit an account recovery request?

5. After you regain access, secure your account.
   Reset your password and turn 2FA back on by following What do I do after my Epic Games account has been recovered?
