Rocket League Matchmaking and Ranked System FAQ
Curious about your matchmaking results? You’ve come to the right place!
How can I improve my matchmaking results?
Matchmaking pairs players with people around the same skill level.
You can do the following to ensure a good matchmaking experience:
- Play with friends
- Find teammates on Discord
- Use the Party Up feature to continue playing with players from your previous match
If you are playing with a party, Party Skill uses a Weighted Average instead of only using the highest-ranked player at the party.
For more info check out our article: Party Skill and Matchmaking.
My friend ranked differently than I did, and we played together
Each player’s progress is unique, and players’ past progression is considered as well.
Each new Season will include a soft reset. This means that the progress from previous Seasons also contributes to your progression.
How many games does it take to rank up?
There is no fixed amount of games that you need to rank up. Ranking up depends not only on wins and losses, but also the difficulty of the matches.
Third-party MMR Tools
MMR information on third-party websites or displayed in-game with third-party mods may not be completely up to date or accurate.
Why was my Rank affected after my teammate left?
A loss will be counted regardless of the context. We take unsportsmanlike conduct very seriously and are constantly striving towards improving the Matchmaking system.
We understand that leaving early is not fair for teammates. The player that leaves will receive a Matchmaking Ban. The first player on a team to leave a match early will have a more substantial MMR loss.
