What are Mutators in Rocket League?
Mutators are alternative presets and settings that can be used to customize Rocket League gameplay in Exhibition Mode or Private Match. Mutators add depth, variety, and crazy rocket-powered fun to custom games, by changing a number of game variables like ball shape, size and gravity.
To use and change the Mutator Settings in Rocket League, please follow these steps:
- Open the main menu.
- Click Play
- Go to Private Match or Play Offline
- Click Create Private Match or Exhibition
- Select Mutator Settings
- Now you can choose from a list of available presets or customize each of the Mutator options to your preference and start your match:
Here is the list of the available presets:
Moonball – Low gravity action with a whole lot of boost
Demolition – Demolish opponents on contact in a high gravity matchup
Pinball – The ball is small, light, fast and bouncy… and a lot to handle
Beach Ball – A huge, slow, lightweight ball with a lot of bounce
Spike Rush – All players have spikes which automatically engage after kickoff, allowing them to stick the ball to their car by driving into it
Boomer Ball – Ball speed and bounciness are increased. Boost is more powerful and unlimited
Dropshot Rumble (Can only be played on Core 707) – Break your opponents' floor, but now with the power-ups of Rumble
Eggstra Special Mode – The ball is replaced with an extra-bouncy egg, decorated to look like an Easter egg. Players have infinite boost
G-Force Frenzy – Enter hyperspeed with an unlimited boost that’s five times its usual power
Gridiron (Can only be played on Champions Field (NFL)) – The standard Rocket League ball has been replaced with an American football
Super Cube – The ball is been replaced by a cubic shape, and its maximum speed and bounciness have increased
Speed Demon – Boost is unlimited and double the power. The ball is larger and moves at super fast speed, but with less bounciness. Demolitions occur on contact, but a 1-second respawn timer gets you right back into the action
