How to refund an Epic Games Store purchase

Sometimes purchases don’t work out. This article explains how to check refund eligibility and submit a refund request.

How to request a refund

  1. Go to Transactions in your account settings.
  2. Find the game you want to refund.
  3. Select Request refund.
  4. Choose a reason and select Request refund again.

Refunds are typically returned to your original payment method within 10 business days. In some regions, you may have the option to receive the refund to your Epic Games account balance (Opens in a new tab) instead.

Refund eligibility

You can request a refund if:

  • You pre-ordered a game and it hasn’t been released yet; or
  • The game is marked as Self-refundable, and
    • It has been less than 14 days since your purchase, and
    • You have played for less than 2 hours (or not at all).

For full details, visit the Epic Games Store Refund Policy (Opens in a new tab)

If you can’t request a refund

First, make sure you meet the refund eligibility criteria above. Then, continue with a refund request if:

  • Your purchase is marked as refundable (not self-refundable) in the Epic Games Store.
  • There’s no visible refund option, but you believe the purchase qualifies under the refund policy (Opens in a new tab).
