How does XP and Levels work in Rocket League?

What is XP, and how does it affect my Level?

As you play the game, you acquire XP (Experience Points). XP helps you progress to the next Tier of Rocket Pass, which earns an Item as a reward. XP Level doesn’t reflect player skill.

How can I obtain XP?

XP is obtained by completing Online Playlist Matches. When playing, you can earn Points by scoring goals, making saves, and more. Base XP depends on multiple factors, such as match completion, the overall time of the match, whether you've won or lost the match, etc. The amount of XP you earn can also be increased by special Bonus XP multipliers or by having Rocket Pass Premium. These give you an extra percentage of your base XP or multiply the amount of XP you get.

Why didn't I get XP after a match?

There is a minimum Point threshold that must be reached in order to get XP. This threshold is in place to encourage players to stay active during a match.

Can I reset my Level or XP?

There is no way to reset Level or XP.

When playing online, will I get paired with other people who have the same Level?

The Rocket League matchmaking system considers Rank, not level or total XP.
